So it has been raining here for 3 days. We were out of school on Tuesday and Wednesday, went back today, and are out again tomorrow. I am super frustrated because now we have to go to school for 2 days the week of Thanksgiving. This is total bull and I don't know what I'm going to do. If I had known we would be off it would be different but because I am a planner I am completely thrown off. Now, for the 3rd time, I have to re-assign my planner. UUUGGGHHHH!!!
On the way home today I thought my car was going to get stuck. Some idiot in a BIG TRUCK was going like 1 mile per hour and I had to go around him. What is with the idiots out there??? Well, I'm gonna go because obviously I am in a bad mood

Hurricane Days

Yesterday was my first day back at work with the students. It was a very successful first day of school and went by really fast. All of my classes are packed out to the max and I think they are all going to be lots of fun, but only time can tell. There is supposed to be a hurricane coming through today so school was cancelled. Lucky kids, the second day of school gets cancelled. We have to make the day up in October, but I think that's o.k because the week we have to make it up is still going to be a 4 day week :-) Lucky us, I love my job! I've been home all day just hanging out. It only rained a little bit so I guess that's good. I was going to go to a water fitness class today (for the first time) but of course the pool at the YMCA is closed. I should probably go to the gym at some point today but I am just being a little lazy. I don't want to get out in the nasty weather...I'm going to go and vacuum now. Y'all have a good day. I love you MOM!

Africa

I am just now getting a chance to update the blog. The rest of my Africa trip was amazing. Mom, Bubba, and I went to the beach for a week and had lots of fun. We drove 4 hours one day and stayed overnight in a lodge and then 4 hours the next day. The lodge had a lot of animals but they were tamed so it wasn't the same as seeing them at the game park. I did get to touch a rhino and a Kudu though. I was scared but did it anyways.
Once we got to the beach we spent one day going on a Seal cruise and riding around the town of Swakumpond (I think that's how you spell it). The seals actually get on the boat with us, which was pretty cool and a little scary. We also saw dolphins and pelicans. I never really worked up the nerve to touch the seals but some of the other people did. When we got back from the cruise I spent 2 hours at the spa getting a facial and a massage. It was so relaxing, thanks Mom! After that it was time for dinner and we at PIZZA!! It was yummy. The next day we rode 4 wheelers in the desert. We went up and down some of the largest sand dunes in the world. It was like a roller coster ride without a seat belt. It was a little scary seeing as we would go straight up one side of the dune and straight down the other. We were out there for 2 hours, I think. When we finished it was mom's turn to go to the spa so I took a nap while she enjoyed her facial and massage. We also ate a several really good restaurants on the ocean and watched the sun set. I had such an amazing time. I hope that Stephen and I can go back next summer; I know he would enjoy it. I would recommend to everyone that you make a trip to Africa at some point in your life. It is well worth the travel time :-) I have added most of my pictures the album but haven't finished all the descriptions. Check them out if you'd like.

AFRICA

I am in Africa and it is wonderful. I left on Friday, July 11th and below is a short update. I have a ton of pictures but do not have time to post them quite yet but I will get on it soon :-)
Day 1- July 11- 2 hr. flight from Orlando to New York; 4 hour layover; board plane to Johanasberg, South Africa
Day 2- July 12- arrive in Joberg at 5 pm. I have been on the plane for 18 hours straight! Take bus to hotel to spend the night.
Day 3- July 13- 2 hr. flight from Joberg to Windheok. My mom and bubba picked me up. We stayed overnight in a really cute lodge. Went to eat at a place called Joe's Beer House. They serve all sorts of meat, Oryx, Zebra, Kudu, etc... I eat COW and a baked potatoe.
Day 4- July 14- Drive 6 hours to mom's house. It is very big and very nice. All the houses (including hers) are surrounded by very high concrete walls in addition to razor wire at the top. Unpack and relax
Day 5- July 15- Run errands around town. I helped mom pick paint colors for the entire interior of the house and we ordered the paint. It's going to look very pretty. We hung laundry out to dry (no dryers!!!), washed dishes by hand, and prepared food. It's like being a housewife in the 1940's! We went to the grocery store; 2 actually, to get everything we needed.
Day 6- July 16- Went to the game park. It was so amazing. We saw soooo many different wild animals; Giraffe's, Elephants, Zebra's, Kudu, Oryx, Spring Bach, Wildebeest, and tons of other animals that I can't remember the name of at the moment. We drove around the park for 10 hours!! These animals are soooo big and it is so amazing to see them in person. There were 29 Elephants at the watering hole all at once. Then we saw 20 Giraffe's at another watering hole. I learned today, by observation, that they sniff each others behinds like dogs do. It was quite interesting.
I am about to take a shower and go to bed. I will keep the blog updated as I go and post pictures to my album soon!!

Summer!!!

Summer is here and it has been great. In June I went to my dads for a few days and Birmingham for a week. I finally finished the Alternative Certification program for my professional educators certificate; I could not be happier about that. We saw fireworks on the 3rd and the 4th and then again last night at the race so I am pretty much fire worked out. Although they were all pretty. So now it's July and Jackie and Patrick are down visiting. We went to the Daytona, Pepsi 400 yesterday. It was a lot of fun; which was a suprise to me. I thought it would be boring but it wasn't... I'm all packed and ready to leave for my trip on Friday :-) Going to Africa for 16 days to see my mom!!! So, that is pretty much all for now. Oh, I posted new pictures in my album so check them out.

Last day of work
WOOOOHOOOOO!!!! Today was my last day at work until the Fall. I am so excited and a little anxious...what will I do this summer? I do have plans to do a little traveling and we have some people coming down here but other than that I don't know. Today is Stephen's 27th birthday so we ate cake and I made lasagna. I have eaten so much today. I actually ate a big lunch and dinner, which is rare. I normally eat soup for lunch and a bigger dinner so I feel pretty full! But anyways...I'll keep y'all updated throughout the summer. I will have new pics soon too :-)
